Illustrated Quote by Mark Twain posted on the first day of Spring. The snow has already melted and now my lawn is full of robins!

This is so true...especially today. I woke up to snow. Two hours later it has already melted. Such a strange and wonderful first day of spring.

This is the reality of the first day of spring at my house!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up this morning to a wet snow. Webster couldn't believe it either as he looks out of the studio window trying to remember playing with his soccer ball yesterday after the rain. That's my tv in the middle. I have it on an old revolving potter's stand that is perfect. I can watch television and look out the windows at the same time.

Mother Nature is having a great big laugh. I really don't care as long as the white stuff doesn't get deep enough to plow.

Miniature Antique Painted Rocker . . .

I picked up this tiny comb-back windsor rocker in original paint at a house sale years ago. It is another of my favorite things. I photographed it next to an apple for scale.

I read somewhere that dust is a great preservative. I really wish I didn't know that as I look at all the 'preservative' on the seat!

There must be something going on with my planets and stars because I have been a cleaning fool the last couple of days. Most unusual for me. I really want to get my house together before I have to spend all of my time taking care of the great outdoors. Plus I will be busy with a new real estate listing which will take a big chunk of my time. I am just getting everything all neat and tidy so my mind will be right.

I signed up for Twitter today and already have some followers. I think it's going to be fun. I heard on the news last night that Twitter has surpassed email as a means of communication. That convinced me to jump in too. See my sidebar if you want to follow along. I will let you know how it goes.

Irish Blessing for St. Patrick's Day . . .

My Georgian Glass Bowl full of Golden Delicious Apples . . .

This late 18th century or early 19th century Georgian Glass Fruit Bowl is one of my favorite things. It looks especially lovely filled with whatever is in season. Right now, the fruit of choice is apples.

Golden delicious from upstate New York...unwaxed, no stickers, hard, tart and crisp; just the way I like them. I can't tell that they are very different from last week's favorite ~ Ginger Gold. They are so good raw, I can't bear the thought of cooking them.

I should have used Granny Smith apples for St. Patrick's Day and the wearing (and eating) of the green. What is your favorite variety?

Elizabeth Barrett Browning Quote . . .

This brass letter clip is one of my favorite things. When I placed it on an antiquarian music book, I got the perfect image for this Elizabeth Barrett Browning quote.

I used one of my old cameras, an Olympus C-7070 wide zoom. I haven't used it for ages and had forgotten how much I like it because the LCD screen is moveable. This is a wonderful feature if you are trying to line things up. I still had to use the "straighten" tool in Picasa (free download from Google). I always use this feature before jumping over to Photoshop Elements for final photo editing.
